The fired Nebraska football assistants are now scrambling to find jobs.

Defensive coordinator Bo Pelini told the Lincoln Journal Star that Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops has talked to him about a possible job on the Sooners' staff.

Pelini, along with Turner Gill, was a candidate for the Huskers' head coaching job. Marvin Sanders said he has a standing offer to become North Carolina's defensive coordinator.

Ron Brown said he was considering jobs in and out of football. Tim Albin and Jeff Jamrog said they have no immediate plans. Barney Cotton said he was exploring a couple career opportunities.

Jimmy Williams could not be reached for comment. Cotton said he is not surprised at the firings. Whenever a new head coach takes over a program; most, if not all, of the previous staff members typically are dismissed.

Cotton said he had been preparing himself for getting fired since Frank Solich lost his job as head coach on Nov. 29.
