Lawmakers generally gave positive reviews to Gov. Mike Johanns' State of the State address Thursday.

Senator Don Pederson of North Platte said, quote, "It represents a good, wholesome attitude and attempt to preserve the important things in our state."

Senator Pat Bourne of Omaha said, quote, "I'm kind of impressed with how ambitious his agenda is."

Johanns touted an agenda of less government, no new taxes and reform.

Johanns outlined his proposal to balance the state budget with no new taxes.

He also called for reforming the state's mental health system and child protection systems and changing how the state funds K-12 education.
