September is National Addiction Recovery Month and in Lincoln addicts honored their vow for a clean life at the 7th annual Nebraska Rally for Recovery. The event started as a national movement to show support for recovering addicts.
Sunday, recovering addicts gathered at the State Capitol for this year's rally. The event featured a walk around the Capitol and the Annual Serenity Moment.
In 2008, more than 400 people showed up.
This year Nebraska sent a delegate to the National Rally for Recovery in New York. Dusty Lord was Nebraska's representative, boasting 21 years free from addiction. Lord is a volunteer with the Nebraska Recovery Network as a Community Education Specialist. She returned from New York just in time for Nebraska's Rally. She said if she can stay clean, anyone can.
