On September 21, 2009, the District Court of Johnson County sentenced Travis W. Stewart to 20 years in prison for his role in the 2008 robbery at the Tecumseh Pizza Hut.
On March 4, 2008, Travis Stewart and another man with masks covering their faces entered the Pizza Hut in Tecumseh, ordered the employees to the floor with a handgun and demanded money. All the employees complied with the men’s demands; nonetheless, one of the men struck two female employees on the head with a metal object, causing injuries which required medical treatment.
According to Deputy Johnson County Attorney Rick Smith, Stewart was apprehended in Missouri in December 2008, after the Tecumseh Police Department and Nebraska State Patrol identified him as a suspect in the robbery.
While awaiting resolution of his charges in relation to the Pizza Hut incident, Stewart assaulted another inmate at the Johnson County jail. On July 6, 2009, he was sentenced to six months for third degree assault and given credit for six months previously served.
