Meth Ring Bust

By: Associated Press

Beatrice Police Chief Bruce Lang and officers from several other southeast Nebraska law enforcement agencies were rejoicing Tuesday in having put a major dent in methamphetamine distribution in the region.

Beginning in the summer of 2002 there have been 31 federal indictments served on people in southeast Nebraska and northwest Kansas.

Lang says finally the law enforcement agencies dismantled what was considered a large meth distribution ring. Most of those indicted also have been convicted through the federal courts.

The ringleader was said to be Seferino Carillo of Marysville, Kansas. He was sentenced to 30 years in prison.

Lang says the cooperative effort to bust the ring involved local police and sheriff's departments in six Nebraska and several others in Kansas. Federal agencies also participated.
