The Kearney Post Office is calling all its mail trucks off the roads due to the winter storm bearing down on central Nebraska.

Rural Mail carriers were reporting difficulty in getting their routes completed Wednesday.

In town, Kearney city carriers were attempting to deliver mail where they could.

The third big storm to hit the state in less than two weeks had dumped six inches of snow on parts of Frontier County to the southwest by ten this morning.

Assistant Manager Mike Froid of Ace Hardware in Kearney says the area has been caught off guard with back-to-back snowstorms. He says his store had only two snow blowers left. He says the rest of the inventory was sent east to Omaha, where 21 inches of snow has piled up from two previous storms.
