A group of psychiatric workers at the Norfolk Regional Center says more talking still needs to be done before moving on proposed state mental health reforms.
Psychologist Kevin Piske says that particularly involves transition of patients to non-institutional care.
Piske notes he and his co-workers in Norfolk were speaking for themselves and not on behalf of Nebraska Health and Human Services.
Norfolk Clinical Social Worker Kris Boe Simmons says her concerns and those of her colleagues are not based on fears of losing their jobs under the reforms. She says the concerns are for their patients.
This month two psychologists and the clinical director of the Hastings center announced their resignations. As a result of the resignations the center's most severe cases are being transferred to Norfolk.
