The Gage County Sheriff's office says a Beatrice man died Monday night when he pulled onto U.S. Highway 77 and was hit by another vehicle.
Seventy-three-year-old Robert Johnson was turning left onto the highway headed southbound about 3.5 miles north of Beatrice. The sheriff's office says his vehicle was then struck by a northbound vehicle around 8 p.m.
The sheriff's office says Johnson was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.
Northbound traffic on Highway 77 was closed for an hour and a half and southbound traffic was diverted to one lane.
