A physicians group that is critical of the Atkins diet this week released details of the report filed after Atkins' death, which showed the doctor was a weight normally considered obese when he died.
New York City medical examiner spokeswoman Ellen Borakove said the report is believed to have been given to Physicians for Responsible Medicine by Doctor Richard Fleming.
Fleming is a cardiologist who operates Fleming Heart and Health Institute in Omaha.
Such reports typically are only released to a physician or facility that had treated the individual, Borakove said. Fleming never treated Atkins.
