The society has five traps in place around Grand Island and is expected to receive 20 more Friday.

The Grand Island City Council in January approved spending 25 hundred dollars to buy those traps.

Grand Island had 45 rabies cases last year, making up 46-percent of the 98 cases reported in Nebraska.

There have been 13 cases already this year statewide, including nine involving skunks. As of Tuesday, two skunks and a dog have tested positive for rabies in Hall County.
