As wireless Internet access takes off, University of Nebraska at Kearney students reap some of the benefits.
In six buildings on campus, students can access the Internet on their laptop computers without worrying about cords.
Assistant vice chancellor of information technology Deb Schroeder says UNK has had limited wireless access for years, but as the demand increased, the school had to have a way to manage it.
Signs are posted so students can locate the wireless zones.
In some cases, if there is a question that comes up in class, students are able to go online and find the answer right away.
If professors have concerns about students surfing the Internet in class, they can request that the network be shut off in a room at a certain time. Schroeder says she has not had any requests to do that yet.
