It's been a cold four weeks in Nebraska, with temperatures remaining at or below freezing.

But the National Weather Service said that is set to change this week.

The service said the mercury will climb into the upper 40s in eastern Nebraska and into the balmy 50s in central Nebraska by mid-week.

The service predicts temperature in the lower 50s in Lexington and Ord on Wednesday, and in the upper 40s in Grand Island, Lincoln and Omaha.

Western Nebraska, which has not been as chilly as the eastern half of the state, is expected to see spring like temperatures this week.

The Weather Service said temps near 60 are likely in the Panhandle. McCook is expected to see a high temp Wednesday of 64.
