The family of one of two Nebraska couples killed in a New Mexico traffic crash with a drunken U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs employee has agreed to a $2 million lawsuit settlement.

The attorney for the Beller family says the settlement was approved by the US Department of Justice last week.

Lloyd Larson was driving a BIA pickup truck the wrong way on Interstate 40 west of Albuquerque after drinking a 12 pack of beer when he struck the car on January 25th, 2002.

The crash killed 63-year-old Larry Beller, who ran a family cattle feed operation in Lindsay, his 59-year-old wife, Rita, and their friends 61-year-old Alice Ramaekers of Norfolk. They were returning home from a vacation.

Claims by the children of the Ramaekers are set from a bench trial in April.
