A new kidney dialysis center is scheduled to open in May in Grand Island, giving patients closer access to required services.
Dr. Tarik Mubin says several of his patients at the Wagoner Medical Group in Grand Island have had to drive to Kearney or Hastings because current facilities in Grand Island have had few openings for new patients.
In October, Wagoner Medical Group began construction on its own dialysis center. Tentatively titled the Kidney Dialysis Center of Grand Island, the center is to open in May with 16 dialysis seats.
The new center will have three eight-hour shifts to accommodate as many patients as possible.
The unit will have the latest equipment and will be set up to teach home dialysis.
