A group was out in the community Saturday morning promoting health care reform and helping people understand the current legislation making it's way through Congress

The group is part of a national campaign called House Calls for Health Care Reform and their goal is to directly reach out to people, discussing health care reform and concerns people have.

The workers are from the health care industry, and they also try to clarify false rumors that cause confusion and fear.

"If people have preventative care they can get care up front, they can maintain their health," said Mary Gallagher a canvasser and nurse at Lincoln Regional Center. "They can maintain their ability to work. If they wait until they have to have emergency care, they end up in the emergency room much sicker than they would have if they would have gone to a routine visit and been able to maintain their medications and their prescriptions."

The canvassers said they're concerned with rising health care costs and want quality health services for the under insured and uninsured
