A purse snatching incident leaves a Lincoln woman hurt and puts a teen behind bars.
Forty-one-year-old Catherine Rutt was punched in the face, thrown to the ground, and her head was slammed into the concrete. She was leaving Westfield Shoppington Gateway Mall under a covered parking area when she was attacked.
Police say 18 year-old Daniel Gorman of Sterling was trying to steal her purse.
A Lincoln man and his fiancé rushed to help her. We spoke with him under the condition we wouldn't use his name.
"We heard her shrieking and screaming, she said no!"
"All I saw was blood all over her face."
He went after the guy and chased him to a nearby car he was able to get a license plate number, a description of the car, and the woman's purse back. This led police to the arrest of not only the suspect, but two other teens who attempted to rob shoppers earlier in the evening.
Lincoln Police Captain Doug Srb says, "They were looking for victims at the mall."
Captain Srb says, three hours after the incident police had all three in custody. The incident happened just before 7 p.m. Monday night. Police say the area was well lit and a lot of people were around.
