Gov. Mike Johanns was in North Platte Tuesday, touring the Great Plains Regional Medical Center and Frointier House.
He said the facilities he saw in North Platte should be copied all over the state.
On his tour, he talked about his proposed reforms in the state mental health system, which would include closing state regional centers in Norfolk and Hastings in favor of more community-based programs.
He said those changes in North Platte would include cooperation of the hospital for short-term protective custody and health care, and the Frointier House for day-to-day help for those who need it.
