A Phillips man has died from injuries suffered in a fiery crash of his van and a semi-trailer at a rural intersection east of Harvard.

Clay County Sheriff Jeff Franklin says 42-year-old Kailin Main Senior was taken by ambulance to Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital in Hastings, where he was pronounced dead.

Franklin says the crash occurred about 1:37 p.m. Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of Nebraska Highway 14 and Clay County Road 319. The sheriff says Main apparently failed to stop at a stop sign, entered the intersection and was struck by the semi.

The van then burst into flames. Franklin says two passers-by pulled Main from the burning van and performed CPR on Main until rescue squads arrived.
