N.R.D. Checking Ice Flows Along the Platte River

By  |

N.R.D officials say they will check ice depths at three locations on the Platte River over the next few months trying to locate ice jams that could cause flooding.

Operations Manager Ron Lehman says the jams are more likely to form when temperatures fail to fall below freezing during the overnight hours and slow down the river's flow.

Near by residents say they're not concerned so far, with little to no snow out west to push the flows down the river, it may be a dry year after all.
