Gas N Shop near Northwest 43 and Highway 34 has been approved for a liquor license to sell beer for consumption inside the store. The Nebraska State Liquor Control Commission approved the application two to one. The lone nay vote from Bob Logsdon of Lincoln.
The control's director Hobert Rupe says the board approved the application because there was no evidence to support denying the application. Another reason for approval, the Gas N Shop is the only store that sells food in the area.
Lancaster County Commissioners' disagree with the Liquor Commission. County Commissioner Deb Schorr says she's afraid the license will set a precedent and other Lancaster county convenience stores will seek similar licenses.
The approved license did have an amendment attached to it. Beer sales for consumption inside will only be limited to a solarium.
