Qwest on Trial

By: Associated Press
Updated: Thu 7:09 AM, Feb 19, 2004

The trial stems from accounting irregularities at Qwest.

A federal prosecutor was asking prospective jurors about their beliefs on telling the truth.

Assistant U.S. Attorney William Leone asked about 75 prospective jurors whether it was possible to trick someone by not telling the whole story.

He also asked whether it was important to them to hear accurate and truthful information from companies they might invest in.

Former Qwest Communications executives Grant Graham, Thomas Hall, John Walker and Bryan Treadway are charged with securities fraud, wire fraud and other charges in an alleged 2001 scheme to allow Qwest to boost revenue by $34 million to meet targets.

Qwest is a local service carrier for Nebraska.
