McPherson County ended a 114-year dry spell Wednesday.
Since 1890, when the county was established, it has never issued a permanent liquor license.
Commissioners John Bryant and Ed Sowders voted to approve the liquor license for a new steakhouse in Tryon. Commissioner Kim Blake voted against the measure.
Mullen resident Clifton Hendrix has purchased the old Ranch Store in Tryon and is remodeling the former general store and cafe into the Iron Horse Steakhouse.
