Sheriff Deputies have made an arrest in an assault at a party where one man was beaten with a shovel.
Deputies say 19 year old Colin Blomker was arrested Wednesday for second degree assault and use of a weapon to commit a felony.
Officials say Blomker and his friends assaulted three others at a party at Blomker's parents' home Tuesday morning and Blomker hit one of the victims with a shovel or baseball bat.
Chief Deputy Bill Jarrett said the assault happened around 1:00 am Tuesday. Jarrett said 3 people were at a party near SW 114 and W. Sprague Road when the men were attacked by a large group. Jarrett said the victims had to fight their way to their truck and once inside people threw rocks at them, breaking a window. Jarrett also said several people began kicking and rocking the truck.
Jarrett said the 3 were able to get away, but stopped about one mile down the road and called 911. While they were waiting Jarrett said a car with 6 people, including Blomker came from the party and stopped near their truck. The 6 men inside got out and started assaulting the victims again. One of the victims, a 19 year old was beaten with a shovel or bat by Blomker.
Jarrett said the 6 men left and the 3 victims went to a hospital in Crete. The man beaten with the shovel received treatment for several cuts to the face and head and a concussion.
More arrests may be made as the investigation continues. Deputies say alcohol played a large role in the assault and there may be charges involving drinking and minors.
