Abortion opponents plan to protest outside the University of Nebraska regents' meeting in Lincoln Friday.
The effort led by Nebraska Right to Life is intended to draw attention to embryonic stem cell research done at the University of Nebraska Medical Center.
Julie Schmit-Albin of Nebraska Right to Life has said she's concerned new rules governing federal funding for the research might tempt the university to ease its policy.
Researchers study embryonic stem cells in hopes of developing disease cures. They have come under fire because isolating the cells destroys embryos. Opponents of the research believe human life begins at conception and that destroying an embryo is immoral.
