Overpass Death

A Papillion teenager has admitted to being an accessory in the July death of an Iowa woman.

Seventeen-year-old John Nichols admitted in juvenile court Wednesday that he drove his friends to an Interstate 680 overpass where the landscaping stone killed 34-year-old Michelle Fergus of Council Bluffs.

Nicholas says he understood at the time that two large paving stones were going to be dropped onto the highway, but not purposely onto a car.

Another teen also faces an accessory charge in juvenile court in the case.

Eighteen-year-old Eric Warbelton of Papillion pleaded guilty to manslaughter last week. Warbelton faces up to 20 years in prison when he is sentenced in May.

Seventeen-year-old Daniel Beerman of Omaha has pleaded innocent to manslaughter and is awaiting trial.
