Cozad Dry Cleaning Business Explodes

An explosion and fire at a Cozad dry-cleaning operation has caused emergency crews to evacuate homes near the scene.

A 9-1-1 operator in Cozad received a call about an explosion at Hunt Cleaners just before 2 this afternoon Wednesday. NO injuries have been reported.

However, emergency officials are worried about smoke from the fire becase of some chemicals that were stored in the building.

People in neighborhoods near the cleaners have been told to go to the American Lutheran Church in town.

Cozad City Schools have been locked down until emergency personnel feel it is safe to let the children out of the buildings.

U-S Highway 30 running through Cozad has been closed. Traffic is being diverted south of town.

Officials do NOT yet know what caused the explosion.
