Hot Dog Sale

By: Associated Press
Updated: Fri 2:42 PM, Mar 19, 2004

With sale of the Fairbury hot dog brand, Roode Packing Company in Faribury is looking for someone to buy its plant.

President Tom Roode said Friday that he will continue producing some hamburger at the plant as he looks for a company to buy it or to partner with him so it can remain open.

The plant right now employs 22 people.

Roode says he had to sell the Fairbury hot dog brand to rival Wimmer's Meat of West Point because of the competition from national brands. Roode says he is certain that Wimmer's can continue the Fairbury brand.
