The Lower Platte South Natural Resources District will temporarily close a portion of its MoPac East Recreational Trail to make drainage improvements on a bridge. The construction will cause the trail to be closed from 286th Street to Elmwood on November 2nd and 3rd.
Sheet piling will be installed on the east end of the bridge just east of 286th Street by a contractor to stop water erosion from causing holes in the trail surface. T.J. Osborn Construction Company, of Lincoln, will complete the work at a cost of $18,000.
Trail users should pay close attention to signs and barriers during the two-day project.
The Mopac East Recreational Trail extends from Lincoln, near 84th and “O” streets, to Wabash, a distance of about 25 miles, and offers walking, running, biking and more for fitness or leisure through some of southeast Nebraska’s finest wildlife habitat and rural scenery.
