Lamonte Curtis lost both of his legs in a childhood accident. Since that time, he has relied on others to help him get around. Thursday Cedars, in partnership with the Bike Rack and AmTryke, gave Lamonte a brand new bike.
The bike was made to fit Lamonte's special needs. Unlike most bikes, the Amtryke is maneuvered completely by hand.
According to Lamonte's mom, Tanzania Pillow, "Lamonte has been wanting to get out there with his brother and sister on bikes for a long time but we haven't had a chance to figure things out like this."
Lamonte and Tanzania were surprised when Cedars told them they would be getting a new bike. "A lot of people don't take the time to do things like this for kids in (Lamonte's) position", said Tanzania. "I'm very excited and very thankful that there are people who take the time".
