Interstate 80 between North Platte and the Wyoming state line is closed because of snow and ice tonight. Both east and westbound traffic is closed.
The Nebraska Department of Roads (NDOR) closed the westbound lanes at 7:00 pm Thursday evening. According to the NDOR 511 Traveler Information site snow and ice on the roadways has caused the closure of all lanes - both east and westbound.
Highway 30 west of North Platte to Big Springs is open to local traffic only, and I-76 in Colorado is closed. NDOR says that Wyoming and Colorado officials are advising that their interstates won't open again until sometime Friday.
At around 8:00 pm Thursday night, it was reported that accomodations west of North Platte along I-80 were all full because of the interstate closure.
The 511 site also says that Highway 20 from west of Crawford to Harrison to the Wyoming state line is closed because of snow and ice.
Portions of I-80 are also closed farther west in Wyoming, as is a span of I-25 between Wellington and Cheyenne.

511 can also be accessed by dialing 511 from any landline or cellular phone. Travelers outside of the state can check Nebraska road conditions by dialing 1-800-906-9069.
The Nebraska State Patrol advises that travelers in need of emergency roadside assistance can dial the Nebraska State Patrol Highway Helpline when safe to do so, at *55 on any cellular phone or 1-800-525-5555 from any landline.
