Three of Luella Wilson's children and her husband died of diabetes and she's lost even more friends to cancer. She is also a diabetic.

"It is a very worthy cause diabetes and cancer. And diabetes can be controlled if you watch it," said Wilson.

Seven years ago Wilson started "Cruising for a Cure." She hosts the Annual Classic Car Show where half of the proceeds go to cancer and the other half to diabetes.

Her passion for the causes has persuaded others to help with the event.

"This is such a good cause and Luella, she just kind of grabs your heart when you meet her," said Kristy McCown who helps with the car show.

Wilson suffered a stroke a few years ago only increasing her determination.

"She's a doctors miracle as we say. So I guess maybe she was put here to carry on," said her daughter Vicki Perry.

The 7th Annual Classic Car Show is Sunday May 2 at Fairbury City Park beginning at 11 a.m. There is still time to register for the car show and a "craft hop" just call 402-239-4417.
