The Dawson County sheriff has identified a 54-year-old Elwood man killed Friday in a one-vehicle crash as Larry D. Roper.
Dawson County Sheriff Gary Reiber says his office was notified shortly before noon on Friday of a pickup in the Tri-County Canal.
Authorities believe the pickup truck was northbound when it went out of control and struck a bridge railing before coming to rest submerged in the Tri-County Canal.
Roper, who was driving the truck, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities say an investigation continues and an autopsy has been ordered.
