Free Easter Meal

DaVinci's on 11th and G celebrated its 20th year of serving a free Easter meal Sunday. The meal was open to everyone, but is espeically for less fortunate families or folks who are alone for the holiday. Owners started the tradition 20 years ago because they wanted to do something nice for the community and realized there aren't any free meals for Easter like there are on Thanksgiving and Christmas.

About 800 people were served and hundreds of pounds worth of food were eaten. Cupcakes were donated by churches around the Lincoln area. Left-over goodies were sent to the People's City Mission. Folks from the Mission were bused over to DaVinci's to enjoy the meal as well.

Owner and minister Kalmer Knudson says, "Its very, very rewarding just to see the pleasure and joy on people's faces."
