The U.S. Department of Agriculture's NASS March report says soil temperatures at the end of the month were about ten degrees above last year's at this time and ten degrees above normal.
The report says soil moisture levels improved in the eastern part of the state, but moisture is still a concern for producers on the western side, which is still under an extreme drought designation.
Wheat conditions in the state are rated 37-percent fair, 35-percent good or excellent and only 10-percent very poor. Last year's condition was rated 31-percent good or excellent.
The condition for cattle and calves was rated 88-percent either good or excellent for March with calving almost 66-percent done across the state and only average losses reported.
