The deadline for filing federal income taxes is midnight Thursday but this April 15 those who waiting until the last minute might want to reconsider.
Chadron Postmaster Sue Spangler says her office is one that is not going to be open late on April 15. She says the mail truck always leaves Chadron at the same time because of the turnaround time for the run to Alliance.
Rushville Postmaster Kathy Rose says people usually have their taxes done and in by April 15 anyway. She says the last three or four years her office has not had a lot of returns waiting in the drop box.
