The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission has announced that the Hedgefield Wildlife Management Area is temporarily closed to public access because of dam and lake rehabilitation projects.
The wildlife management area east of Hickman, in Lancaster County, is expected to be closed until next summer to protect the public from construction hazards.
The commission is working on an in-lake aquatic rehabilitation project that includes deepening the lake, enhancement of aquatic habitat, improved fisherman access and construction of a boat ramp. The lake will be restocked with largemouth bass, bluegill and channel catfish.
