Gambling Battle About to Heat Up

Wednesday's legislative vote in favor of putting casino gambling on the November ballot is only the beginning of the battle over casino gambling. Both sides of the issue are preparing themselves for a seven-month quest to sway people to their side.

Keep the Money in Nebraska is focusing on getting signatures for their own constitutional amendment that they want to see on the ballot. Their amendment would allow gambling in two casinos in Omaha and slots in other locations across the state. It would also spread the revenue to communities across Nebraska.

The petition signatures are due on July 2. After that, they will focus on an ad campaign to try to win the election.
