A former visiting professor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln was sentenced Monday on charges of sexually assaulting a student.
A Lancaster District Court judge found Debasis Chaudhuri to 60 days in jail and to pay a $500 fine.
Chaudhuri had pleaded no contest to the charges after first pleading innocent.
The computer science professor from India was on a temporary teaching assignment on the UNL campus when he was accused of trying to sexually assault a student in October of 2003.
