New information has been released in the shooting death of a missing Lincoln man.

Police say 23 year old Chance Paap shot his friend, 28 year old Nathan Kuhn October 31 while drinking and twirling his gun.

Officer Katie Flood said Kuhn had called Paap several times before he went missing on Halloween. Flood said Kuhn and Paap were drinking together early Saturday morning at Paap's apartment at 1431 S 28th Street.

At some point Paap got his .45 caliber handgun from his safe. Flood said both Paap and Kuhn handled the gun before Paap started spinning it on his finger. Flood said the gun went off and Kuhn was shot.

Flood said Paap panicked and moved Kuhn's body into a closet, then fled both his home and the state.

Flood said Kuhn's mother was the last to see him alive on October 30 and called police Monday November 2 because he didn't show up for work.

Detective Sgt. Dave Munn checked Kuhn's phone records and found the calls placed to Paap.

Paap returned to a family member's home in Lincoln November 3 and reported Kuhn's death. Police found the gun in Paap's trunk and Kuhn in Paap's closet.

Kuhn's autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday, Paap is scheduled to be charged with manslaughter in court at 2:00pm.

Flood said police are still looking for Kuhn's orange and white Schwinn bicycle. Flood said Paap dropped it off at a bike trail in Lincoln before fleeing. Flood asks that if anyone knows where the bike is they not touch it and call police right away.

Police continue to investigate the scene of the crime.

Flood said this is the 3rd accidental or negligent gun death in Lincoln in 2009.

Alaina Beasley was shot and killed by her husband Joshua on January 31 when he was pretending to clear the apartment of intruders with what he thought was an unloaded shotgun.

Jason Stroemer shot and killed himself September 28 when he was playing with what he believed was an unloaded handgun with his fiance.
