There is much more to see in Pawnee City than just the street named after hometown hero Larry the Cable Guy.

Just a few blocks from the Pawnee County Courthouse is an old church that has been transformed into a museum unlike any that you will probably ever visit. As far as I can tell...this is a pedal powered paradise.

Inside the walls of the former church sits the beginning of it all, a pedal tractor that Bill Sunneberg restored 35 years ago. That's what got the 80-year-old interested in restoring old pedal vehicles.

The variety of pedal toys is incredible, just about every kind of tractor ever made, there are planes, boats and even military vehicles...more than 500 in all, and there are another 1,000 smaller toys to take in.

Bill and Elsie have been married for 57 years and after 40 years of milking cows, they've enjoyed this passion called the Pedal Clinic.
Elsie says, "It's been a lot of fun. It's something we can do together and we enjoy seeing the finished product."

To truly appreciate this assortment you have to take in how many thousands of hours it's taken to restore them the past 20 years.
Bill says the restoration process is always challenging, "Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's bad. Depends on the shape when you get them."

Bill says turning rusty relics into treasured toys is satisfying, "When you can take a toy that the kids have almost demolished and bring it back to life it's worth something I guess."

The Sunneberg's love to share their rare collection with anyone who's interested. It's free and there are no set hours of operation. But Elsie says all you have to do is call the phone number on the front door (402-852-2655) and they'll drive in from the country and be there in about 10 minutes.
