Nebraska Senator Chuck Hagel says the U.S. may have to consider reinstating the draft. Hagel appeared on NBC's "Today" show and said a renewed military draft is an option the U.S. should consider.
Hagel stopped short of actually calling for resumption of the draft.
The Senator predicts the war on terror could last up to 20 years, and with the military already being stretched thin in Iraq and Afghanistan, the draft is an option the U.S. will have to look at.
Hagel also said the Bush administration needs to be more open about the costs of sustaining military operations in the war on terror.
