Wednesday, Rev. Norman Leach entered a no contest plea in court. He was then convicted of third degree sexual assault. The no contest plea is not an admission of guilt, but it allows the court to convict him. He now waits his sentencing on June 4.
Folks at the Child Advocacy Center were surprised by the plea, but are happy the victim won't have to testify in court and can now move on with his life.
They have also been contacted by men from Leach's past who claim to have been assaulted by him. However, the claims are 40 years old, so they cannot be prosecuted. If other more recent victims come forward, the men could be used to testify about Leach's motivations.
