More people will now be able to enjoy Nebraska football games.

Saturday, the University of Nebraska Board of Regents unanimously approved a $53 million plan to expand Memorial Stadium's north side. The plan, proposed by Athletic Director Steve Pederson last year, calls for 6,000 more seats, as well as a performance area for student athletes.

Pederson's initial plan was to raise $20 million through fundraising, but to date, only $15 million has been raised through private donations and funding.

Regent Charles Wilson says the new addition is "...going to be an essential part of our recruiting process; to be able to offer top-notch facilities to recruits."
