Lancaster County Sheriff Deputies are investigating two cases of internet fraud, one where the victim is out $1,150.
Sheriff Terry Wagner said a 48 year old woman in Waverly posted some furniture online but when a buyer contacted her she was sent a check for $1,500 instead of the $350 she asked for.
The buyer told her to deposit the check and send the difference via Western Union to Maryland.
Wagner said the woman sent the money but later found out the check was a fake.
Wagner said a man in Raymond was presented with the same scam this weekend after placing merchandise online, but he never cashed the check and didn't lose anything.
Wagner warns these scams are always out there and the seller needs to be aware.
