Seward Will Get a Super Wal-Mart

The Seward City Council voted 5 to 3 on the special use permit. That means a Super Wal-Mart is on its way. This comes after lots of debate. Council member Bob Fiala says it will be beneficial to the city.

Ken Bunger who is an attorney for Wal-Mart says, "The groceries are on the way, along with a brand new design for the new Wal-Mart."

Not everyone is in favor of the special use permit. Barbara Springer is one council member that voted against it. She says, "I feel the town was divided on this issue and I can't say that I've seen the town so divided on something."

The next step is for Wal-Mart to purchase the land. Then, it will have final approval of the plat, which will include the design of the building. If all goes according to plan, construction will start this summer and the Super Wal-Mart will open in spring of 2005.
