A 27-year-old Nebraska City woman has been charged with felony child abuse and three counts of drug possession, accused of leaving her 18-month-old child home alone.
Amy Severe remained in custody Thursday after being arrested Monday evening. Her two children are in state custody.
Police were called to Severe's home by her landlord, who had stopped by to collect rent. The landlord told officers that only the toddler was there, alone.
Severe was arrested after she returned.
It was unclear how long the toddler was there alone or whether Severe's other child also was there. Calls by The Associated Press to representatives for the police and prosecutors were not immediately returned Thursday.

I work with the landlord he said the other child was with the mother, the toddler was home alone.
Lay off the drugs MOM! Have some common sense! Even if the other child was there, I doubt he/she were that old. The mom is 27.
kind of an omission of fact here, how could the toddler have been alone if there was another child there? and how old was the other child? maybe the other kid was 14. but I guess that wouldn't make a good story.
