A Carter Lake, Iowa, man who led police on a high-speed chase has been bound over for trial on three counts of manslaughter in a crash that killed three people.

Nineteen-year-old Steven D Halbert was trying to flee Carter Lake police during a chase that crossed into north Omaha on March 20. Halbert is accused of running a stop sign and crashing into three people on two motorcycles.

Halbert attorney Kevin Ryan said in a Douglas County Court hearing Tuesday that he would look into whether the three pursuing Carter Lake officers playing any role in causing the accident.

Police say the closest pursuing Carter Lake officer was so far behind Halbert that he did not see the crash.
