Congressional Candidates Continue Raising Money

State Senator and Democratic candidate Matt Connealy of Decatur leads all 1st District Congressional hopefuls in terms of money raised. The Associated Press reports Connealy has raised $197,000 to lead the way.

Candidates filed reports with the Federal Election Commission regarding campaign money raised.

Speaker of the Legislature Curt Bromm leads all Republicans in fundraising, bringing in nearly $170,000 for his campaign as of April 21. Former Lincoln City Councilman Jeff Fortenberry reports nearly $128,000 and Nebraska Cattlemen Executive Vice President Greg Ruehle has raised almost $125,000.

Democratic candidate and Fremont attorney Janet Stewart reports $40,000 raised, and Phil Chase of Schuyler reports $74,000 of his own money in contributions. Chase claims no other campaign contributions.

The primary election for the 1st District Congressional race and other Nebraska races is Tuesday, May 11.
