A Proposed Ordinance Would Change the City's Flood Standards

New growth areas are places right outside the city limits, but they still fall under the city's jurisdiction for future growth.

If this proposed ordinance passes it would make it tougher to develop land in floodplain or flood prone areas. One way it would make it tougher is by not allowing construction crews to bring in fill dirt into floodplain area.

Land near Stevens Creek is deemed as one of many places for "new growth" that would be affected. Opponents of he proposed ordinance says it would limit where you can develop land costing more to the homebuyer.

Lincoln's City Council will hold another public hearing on this issue Monday May 10 at 4 p.m.
