A one-car accident in Pawnee County has left a former Jansen woman dead.
The Pawnee County sheriff's department says 20-year-old Jelsi Kae Smith died as a result of the accident near the west junction of Nebraska Highway four and 50. The accident occurred at about 9:15 a.m. Monday.
Authorities say Smith was a passenger in a car that went into a ditch, struck an embankment and flipped. She was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the car.
Smith was transported to a Lincoln hospital, where she died.
